The morning-after pill for STIs

DoxyPEP helps prevent syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea

DoxyPEP FAQ

  • DoxyPEP is a post-exposure preventive treatment for syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea. Think of it as a morning-after pill for bacterial STIs. One dose after a condom-less sexual encounter greatly reduces your risk of contracting bacterial STIs.

DoxyPEP does not help prevent HIV, Mpox, or other viral infections

  • Consider DoxyPEP if:

    • you were assigned male at birth

    • are 12 years of age or older

    • have been diagnosed with at least one bacterial STI (i.e., chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis) in the last year

    • have had a condom-less sexual encounter with at least one individual assigned male at birth in the last year

Anyone who believes they may benefit from DoxyPEP should discuss the risks and benefits with their KC CARE Health Center provider to see if it may be an option for them.
